What is Kid Day?

You may have heard us talking about Kid Day over the last couple of weeks. You may be asking: “What is Kid Day?”  Kid Day is something we do each year to celebrate as a church our most precious gifts, our kids!

What Happens on Kid Day?
This is a twofold answer. First, during the service we will have a special celebration for new parents. We call this Baby Dedication. We offer parents an opportunity to present their child and themselves before the church and before God. Parents who decide to be apart of this dedication are coming before the church and God and committing to live their lives in a way that honors God. They are also committing to raise their child to know Him. As a church we are also committing to partnering with each family to help point their kids towards God.

The other major thing that happens on Kid Day is in Kamp Kidspring and Little Kampers. We try to always have a good time, each Sunday, in Kamp Kidspring  and Little Kampers but this day is even more special. As soon as the kids all arrive we spend the time during the service outside having fun. This year we are going to have bounce houses, face painting, a game truck, popcorn and an ice cream truck! Plus the child that brings the most friends will win a prize!

Why Kid Day?
Kid Day is important because not only do we commit to partnering to the parents who come forward but also the parents take a visible step in commitment themselves to God. We also want to teach our kids that knowing God is fun and exciting and that He wants the best for them. Kids have fun in many different places, why not at church as well? The Bible says in John 10:10 I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. This is exactly what we want our kids know experience on Kid Day

Kid Day is coming up on May 27th. The baby dedication is for kids 2 and under. To be apart of the dedication sign up here. If you have kids they will not want to miss this day!

Why Social Media?

If you have been around Wellspring at all you know that we love social media. Today I want to discuss the reasons we think its an important thing for our church to use and be apart of.

So why does Wellspring use Facebook, Twitter ect…? We believe that these uses of technology can connect us more than ever as the church.  People long for connection and we love to help people connect at Wellspring.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:11 the Bible tells us to “encourage and build each other up.” There are so many good ways that we can connect through these types of social networking media.  If a friend is hurting encourage them with a scripture or encouraging word.  This causes others to see the encouragement or prayer and add their encouragement.  Then the connection multiplies for the person in need.

Another great way to use Twitter and Facebook is to promote things that are going on at Wellspring.  This not only helps people stay informed but it can be used as an invitation tool for your friends.  Once they see the excitement of your posts, or tweets they may be more likely to say “yes” the next time you invite them.  Back to last weeks post, if you have a friend that has a marriage that is in trouble and we are doing a series on marriage, the more you help us advertise it the more likely others will come.

The world is connecting faster than it ever has.  I believe God has given us these gifts to help carry His message.  So get out there and encourage, invite and promote all that God is doing in your life and at Wellspring!  If for some reason you are still stuck in 2003 when neither Twitter or Facebook existed then now is the time to join the fun. Easter is almost here an perfect time to join and promote. We want you to be apart of what God can do through using social media.  You can find me on Twitter and look me up on Facebook.

Who Are You Bringing? Sermon Video

Hey, if you didn’t get a chance to attend one of our two hours this past Sunday at Wellspring, you missed an awesome day as Pastor Trey challenged us to have an urgency about inviting our friends to church where they can experience Jesus Christ for themselves and their life can be changed.

Take a few minutes to watch the message and then think about the people in your life who need Jesus. If you don’t have any…think about that and then get some.
